Job Summary: This is professional work supervising and coordinating the data management, reporting and quality assurance functions for the Bureau of Water Resource Information.

 

Job duties include:

  • Performs advanced analysis of hydrologic monitoring activities. Utilizes statistical methods for the detection of hydrologic trends in District datasets. Performs complex statistical analyses of hydrologic and meteorologic data, such as analyzing gaging station records for the purpose of estimating missing data or ungauged locations; determining apparent reasons for data anomalies and correlating the wide variety of factors that affect the results; analyzing flood and drought frequency and developing regional flood and drought frequency relationships. Provides information products and support to the Water Shortage Committee as needed.
  • Prepares and reviews technical hydrologic publications; enhances and oversees development of the monthly Hydrologic Conditions Report.
  • Supervises hydrologic data quality assurance specialists; reviews and implements improved work processes, assesses performance, develops performance objectives, hires and trains subordinate staff.
  • Assists in the design, evaluation, and construction of hydrologic/hydrogeologic monitoring networks. Oversees workflows of processing, review, and archival of hydrologic and meteorologic data.
  • Develops and documents advanced quality assurance techniques to be employed in data review. Provides high level review of discharge data obtained from the USGS and other sources.

 

Ability To:

Communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical staff as well as with the public.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the natural, biological, physical, or

engineering sciences and five years of experience in water resource management, two of which includes

leading a project team, coordinating activities of a work group, or serving as a team lead.

 

Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Mostly office environment and periodic field visits as required.

 

Periodic field visits:

Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.

 

Licenses:

Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

 

Additional Details:

Starting Salary Range: $66,164.80 - $86,008.00

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
